Why would people want to scrutinize special people with autism? Isn't that a bit harsh?

Jake, at least they are doing something about it unlike most of the rest of us. Let's criticize, but only positively.

I'm not sold about these online autism conferences. I think it is about time we take it into our own hands and have real conferences in person so that we can all be in one place at the same time. Who is up for this?

These online autism conferences are a great idea. My friend's son is a pre-teen with autism and she just had another child. It is difficult for her to get out and network with the baby to take care of. Attending on online conference would be very helpful for her family, I am going to mention this to her.

Hey there Rosie

The conference I was referring to has finished, however I think it may be still possible to read the various conference papers by clicking on the link I supplied above.

If you are new to learning about the autism spectrum then have a look at some of the links we have listed on the left side of this page. Also, if the idea of a conference appeals to you, Autism New Zealand will be hosting one at the end of this year. They also have workshops and seminars throghout the year.

With a little sleuthing around you may be able to find some people in your area for you and your 24-year old to talk with.

Good luck in your search for information

I am interested in finding out a bit more about it. We have a 24 year old who suffers from it.

Thanks for that, I think On line Conferences especially for us Aspies is a great idea - only one way to find out if they really listen to people who have lived with and around all their lives is to join, so I will see if I can make a difference...
